Falleció en la madrugada del lunes 26 de octubre, en la clínica Ruber Internacional de Madrid.

 El funeral de Sabino Fernández Campo se oficiará hoy, martes 27 de octubre de 2009, a las 17.00 horas en la Catedral de Oviedo y posteriormente se llevará a cabo una ofrenda floral ante el gran busto del ex jefe de la Casa del Rey situado en un lateral del Parque de San Francisco, en el centro de la capital asturiana.

Según ha informado el Ayuntamiento de Oviedo, tras el funeral, los restos del ex jefe de la Casa del Rey serán trasladados hasta el cementerio ovetense de San Esteban de las Cruces.
